Game Day Preview

The Stage Is Being Set Reading Game Day Preview 3 minutes Next Goals Galore

They'll be action a plenty this weekend at Styal with both the first and A team playing home fixtures. The first team face Timperley A who only a few weeks ago were beaten convincingly 18-8 but Wilmslow were not overly pleased with their performance at the defensive end of the field. Too many goals due to lack of communication and not playing as a unit allowed Timperley's attack more chances then Coach Perrin would have liked.

"We need to keep focused for all 4 periods. 20 minutes a quarter without easing off the gas but that's not to say to go, go, go. It's moving the ball quickly and often, pushing it through X early to get the defensive teams heads turning, it's keeping the communication and concentration levels high at all times for our own midfield and defense so we can react in real time and not get caught napping and concede soft goals"

"With 2 league games before we play in the Junior Flags Final we have time and opportunity to tidy up our game and get to the level we want to be at as a team. Finishing the season playing our best lacrosse is what I want to see us achieve."

The first will almost be at full strength this Saturday, although Daryl Chatterton will take the weekend off as his wife are due their first child any time now. Fingers crossed all goes well and baby arrives healthy and in time for Chatterton to return to the field again soon. Daryl only returned to lacrosse last year after a close to 8 years out of the game and has flourished at Wilmslow where he earnt a starting attack spot and scored in nearly every game he has played for the club.

Bolley returns to the first this week having suffered a freak pre game injury a month ago. He will be a welcome return to the Wilmslow midfield and defense. This week will also see the team field all 4 long poles for only the second time since late February. The target this game must be be reduce the numbers of goals Timperley scored in the last game.

Wilmslow A play their last game of the second, should they take the win against league leaders Brooklands A then Wilmslow would finish second in the division. To be in this position is incredible as they had only been promoted the season before.

A team captain Matt Croney said "Just think what we could achieve if players were able to commit and be available for selection more often. We'd smash it and be playing at Flags weekend in our own final. I might well have had more clubs then Tiger Woods but Wilmslow is a brilliant club. It could be a great club if people put in more work."

The A team will see George Widdowson return to action on the face off X. Injury has kept him out of the team sheets for a number of weeks but he feels able to do a descent shift for the club this weekend.
