Men's First Team

The 1st team will be looking to push for a top 4 position during the 2024/25 season and could even be pushing for promotion is they continue to put in the hard work we’ve been seeing in the pre season training during the summer months. The team is lead by Head Coach Jason Perrin, a former International coach with a wealth of experience, and captain Oscar Mellor who last season proved that he has what it takes to lead on and off the field.

Men's First Team

Matt Goddard

Position: Goal
Number: 37

Although Matt split time last season with Mathew Croney, this year has seen "Monkey" make the first position his own with his dedication to training and proving himself as a leader within the defensive end of the field. Matt is a goalie you can count on in those one v one situations and has the strength to shake off the goals scored by the opposition and focus on the next play.

 

Danny Ingham

Position: Defence
Number: 16

Danny is the longest serving member of what is becoming an excellent defensive team. A product of the Wilmslow Lacrosse junior programme who first picked up a lacrosse stick over 20 years ago. Despite being a veteran of the club, Danny is undoubtably playing his best lacrosse and is proving that he can be a leader on the field.

Ben Fairfield

Position: Defence
Number: 19

Season on season Ben has become a stronger player, bringing speed and intensity to the defense. A player that has excellent stick checking ability and a someone who you can count on during those groundball battles. Ben is a car mechanic by trade but has the has the right tools and wheels to run long stick midfield when needed.

Jason Jones

Position: Defence
Number: 5

The former Wales International has recently rejoined Wilmslow after living in New Zealand the past few years. Jay brings a huge amount of on field experience to the senior ranks and will prove to be a invaluable asset to the club.

Daryl Chatterton

Position: Attack
Number: 7

Having taken a number of years away from the sport, Daryl found the love for this great sport once again when he was persuaded to dust of his gear and join Wilmslow Lacrosse Club. An absolute gem of a human and we are lucky to have him as a player and a junior coach.

Ethan Chapman

Position: Defence
Number: 14

Another product of Wilmslow’s youth program, Ethan has been involved with junior development over the past few seasons and is a talented long stick midfielder on the senior 1st team who has represented Wales at a U20 World Championship.

Frazer Hunter

Position: Defence
Number: 1

A real utility player on the field and a huge asset to the junior coaching crew. Frazer has been a regular 1st team player the past few seasons and is currently a member of the Scotland performance training squad.

Josh Simpson-Pink

Position: Midfield
Number: 10

Although Pinky joined Wilmslow part way through the 2023/24 season, it feels like he's always been one of us. One of the most talented players in the country who has a cannon of a shot, slick handling and excellent athletic ability who continues to get better. Josh earnt his spot in the GB training squad that hopes to compete in the 2028 Olympics in LA.

George Widdowson

Position: Midfield
Number: 84

Having worked hard throughout the 2023/24 season, George have earnt his first team spot as the teams starting face off man. A grafter who has perfected his art at the face off X.

Aaron Eastwood

Position: Midfield
Number: 13

Aaron joined Wilmslow 2 years ago but has played lacrosse since a under 12 youth player. This strong 2 way midfielder who can also face off has racked up serious points since his arrival at Wilmslow and proven to be invaluable.

Finn Sykes

Position: Defence
Number: 42

Finn found the sport during his time at University of Lancaster and has proven that players that pick up that pick up a lacrosse stick at Uni can in fact become quality players at club level. A great athlete with fantastic footwork and positioning who continues to improve week on week becoming a vital cog within the Wilmslow first team's defensive unit.

Louis Andrews

Position: Midfield
Number: 9

The 2024/25 will see Andrews play his first full year as a Wilmslow player. An offensively minded midfielder that is settling in well, has been a welcome addition to the first team squad and will continue to improve.

Jordan Bolley

Position: Midfield
Number: 57

A groundball vacuum and a defensive middie who continues to grow as a player. An athletically gifted member of the first team who has shown determination and commitment each time he wears a Wilmslow Lacrosse jersey.

Sam Burgess

Position: Midfield
Number: 33

Another product of the Wilmslow youth teams since U12 on a Saturday morning. Sam brings speed and lots of it. A gifted 2 way midfield who can also rifle a shot in to the corners of the goal. One of the longest serving first players.

Adam Footitt

Position: Midfield
Number: 79

Footitt is a jack of all trades. Can slot down on attack, come through midfield and is a pretty decent face off option. A valuable squad member who is also heavily involved in Stoke Lacrosse Club and the Midlands League.

Seth Janaway

Position: Midfield
Number: 43

Another product of Lancaster University who although found the sport late, has proven he can compete at a high level. A 2 way midfielder who continues to improve with each game.

Calon Stevens

Position: Midfield
Number: 21

Another playing that was introduced to the sport of lacrosse during his time studying at University who went on to represent Wales U21 at the World Championships in Limerick. Calon had his debut season at Wilmslow in 2023/24 and has worked himself in to the first team squad.

Henry Philips

Position: Midfield
Number: 31

Henry is the latest addition to our ever growing talent pool. A workhorse midfielder who represented Wales Under 20's that will slot nicely in to the 1st team squad and is sure to develop his game further.

Oscar Mellor

Position: Attack
Number: 34

Mellor brings intensity and lots of it. An attackman who can dodge, feed and fire the ball like it's leaving a cannon. Another product of the youth teams at Wilmslow who first played lacrosse at nine years of age. A player who continues to improve year on year.

James Perrin

Position: Attack
Number: 4

A Wilmslow club legend with more playing experience and playing accolades then most other clubs entire roster. James has great field vision and brings an older, wiser head to what is a young Wilmslow team. Current assistant coach to the Wales Men's team.

Mark Bowe

Position: Midfield
Number: 20

A vital cog in our midfield engine for close to 2 decades. "Sparky" has proven to be a great face off man who has consistent at both ends of the field for Wilmslow over the years.
