Game Day Preview

This weekend sees just 2 fixtures for the senior teams with the men's 1st and our ladies both in action at home. A win for the ladies team over Liverpool would see us move up the league table, a good run to the end of the season would be a huge confidence boost for Wilmslow as they get closer to their first appearance at the Flags Final weekend at Rochdale. The ladies really have created a warm welcoming team feeling that has seen the number of female lacrosse players at an all time high at the club, the goal is to start a second team next season.

The 1st team will play Mellor A for the third time this year having beaten them in the league 16-8 back in January, only to defeat them the follpwing game in the Cup 14-1 which saw a dominated defensive performance which held Mellor to fewer than 6 shots on the Wilmslow goal. This week will be another test of Wilmslow's depth with a number of players on the injury list again, Bolley still resting a freak injury picked up during a pre warm up 2 weeks ago, Widdowson will sit out the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, Eastwood awaits a medical but may be stood down this game. Ingham will return to the Wilmslow defense after a one game ban.

The Junior Flags Final and the protentional of a play in game vs the second to bottom Premier division team awaits Wilmslow. Players are aware of what lays ahead and must make every effort for up the work rate. The team best placed to beat Wilmslow this season has always been Wilmslow. A more disciplined approach in training and matches along with on field game management and more patience on the offensive end would see this team elevated to the next level.
