Wilmslow vs Sheffield 29/11/25
This week, Wilmslow journeyed across the Pennines to Sheffield, for another wet and windy game. At this rate, we will have grown webbed fingers and toes by April!
Both teams had changed a fair bit since their first meeting earlier in the season, and it made for a much more even game.
Starting at the top, the attack maintained good shape and played some lovely 2-man game. They settled the ball and took advantage of the good match-ups. It was also the debut performance for granola, which was tantalisingly close to working first time! The biggest shoutout though, goes to the hustle of our attackers in helping the mids and defence - riding the transition, fighting all the way to the restrainer, and coming down to collect the clear. Amazing efforts!
It was another stellar performance for our midfield unit - starting with more beautifully controlled draws, and our circle players consistently getting in first and winning the 50/50 balls. A dominant performance!
And last but not least, a new-look defence anchored by our brilliant goalie. They identified the threats, sent the slides (first, second and third!) and only hit a few people in the head 😇
The final score was 17-14 to Wilmslow - yippee!
Special mentions for Harriet and Eleanor on their first matches, and to our fantastic WoTM - super-drawer and captain, Alys Johns ⭐
Liverpool at home next week - let’s get it 💪
