Although the Stockport A seemed a little light on numbers they certainly gave an excellent account of themselves in what ended to be a very close first quarter. A few errant passes lost in the sun and a few strong saves from the young Stockport goalie meant Wilmslow would only lead at the end of the first period by a close margin of 2-3.
The second quarter Wilmslow started to click a little more on offense. Defensively we put in a good shift through the first half and the midfield put in solid work between the lines earning a number of hard fought groundballs. The extra possession gave Wilmslow a comfortable halftime lead but Stockport were far from finished.
The Cale Green team come out firing in the third quarter and quickly close the gap built up by the visiting team and soon made it a one goal game. With only a 2 goal lead at the end of the third Wilmslow knew that a step in was needed and step up they did to finish the game 9-13. With the first points of the season on the board Wilmslow face a tough fixture away to Wacsbury next weekend, a team who currently sit top of the league table.
