First Team Defeat Tough Mellor A Reading Men's 1st Team Gameday Preview 2 minutes

This weekend will see Wimslow 1st team take on Boardman & Eccles at home, well "home" might be an astroturf in Withington due to the amount of standing water on the fields currently. Both teams are desperate to get the game played as both has only played 4 games to date this season.

Boardman & Eccles could prove to be a tough opponent if their full squad is available and 2 seasons ago they were one of our bogey teams, although in the 4 times we've met over 2 years Wilmslow have come away with 3 wins. One thing is certain, there will not be any clash of colours this weekend with Boardman's distinctive red and green jerseys.

With all teams in Championship 1 having lost at least one game this season so far, the league table looks fairly tight, the real surprise so far is that Mellor A currently sit second from bottom despite proving to be a very competitive force against Wilmslow last weekend.

With Wilmslow missing a number of players this weekend it will be a great test of the depth in the player pool we now have at the club. As a club we are very much focused on increasing the overall playing standard of the teams through dedicated senior and youth coaches. There's been a really positive improvement at Wilmslow over the past 4 seasons and is one of the few clubs that has seen considerable growth in it's playing numbers around the Manchester lacrosse community.

The only other senior team in action is the Wilmslow Ladies who will face 3rd place Heaton Mersey, another difficult fixture for Wilmslow who has suffered 3 heavy defeats on the bounce. One of the goals for the ladies section is to be able to field youth girls teams within the next 2 years to feed in to the senior ladies team in future.
