Ladies vs Stockport Reading Game Day Preview 3 minutes Next Wilmslow vs Rochdale

With game day fast approaching we should take a look at the weekends fixtures. Let's start will our most important team within the club...the juniors.

This group of young men have worked incredibly hard in their first league season and although they have not won as many games as they would like, they are learning and improving with every game. The last encounter with the strong Heaton Mersey team saw Wilmslow defeated 15-9 but much was learnt in that clash and Wilmslow hope to close the gap a little more this Saturday. Credit to all the hard working junior coaches at the club who give up their time for the next generation of Slowtown stars.

Wilmslow's ladies team has been steadily growing their squad numbers over this season, with impressive numbers of women at training each and every Thursday evening. With the ranks swelling we might be seeing a second team fielded within the next 12 months which would be the only time a Northern club put out a second senior ladies side.

This weekend sees the ladies continue their cup run as they take in Liverpool, the game with take place on neutral ground at Heaton Mersey. Earlier this season the two teams had a 8-8 draw at Liverpool. Having put in a lot of training since that day, Wilmslow are looking forward to this cup game.

Wilmslow's men's 1st team take on league leaders Rochdale in an away fixture. The two teams met early in the season with 'Dale taking a 9-8 victory. Since that game the Rochdale team has pulled away from the pack, only dropping a point to Heaton Mersey A in a 10-10 draw. With a return to the top division in their sights, being the top scoring team and the best defensive record in Championship 1 they are favourites to take the points this Saturday but everyone likes an underdog....WOOF WOOF.

The past 2 months has seen Wilmslow's first team really start to hit form, 7 games on the bounce undefeated and the 2nd best defensive record in the league. Our goals for will look somewhat different soon with 3 fixtures versus the two teams sitting bottom of the table. The offensive unit is gelling well and there is confidence in our ability to get the job done, a far more disciplined Wilmslow team then we've seen in seen in over a decade. Training on Thursday had a real buzz within the camp and the the "Underdogs" are chomping at the bit. Eyes on the prize.
