Both the men’s and women’s members of Wilmslow lacrosse club have been competing in the Timperley series, which consisted of three consecutive Friday games in May. Members played on teams made up of lots of Manchester club and university players. It was a lovely opportunity for our players to network and make some new friendships between clubs.
The Wilmslow women’s team were able to play with and against their coach, Lucy Ford, who will be attending ‘The Fly’, making for some tough competition! The women’s members attending the Rhino Cup in Belgium in September used these friendly games as an opportunity to practice a position on the field that they don’t play as much. New Wilmslow players also tried positions that they hadn’t done before. Everyone got to play alongside former and current international players, so lots was learnt!
In the men’s section, Frazer Hunter and Sam Burgess were able to play against and with other men’s players chosen for ‘The Fly,’ which was handy for their preparation for the 6’s tournament due to take place this bank holiday weekend.
All the games were fun, friendly and safe. It was great to see all of the women supporting the men’s games and vice versa. All the players met in the clubhouse for a social after the games too!
