In what we’re hoping will be a new regular segment for Wilmslow Lacrosse Club, we are going to try and write at least one match report each week the highlight some of the fabulous talent we have at this club.
Wilmslow Ladies 9 v Sheffield 19
This week, we’ve had a match report from the Senior Ladies who travelled to Sheffield to play a game of 8s. Alys Johns who was acting captain on the day has written us some thoughts…
We started the first half feeling a bit deflated with Sheffield getting most of their goals in, which ended the half with a 12-2 goal difference to them. However, in the second half we really pulled it back and came on the pitch fighting! We ended up drawing the second half to finish the game 9-19, demonstrating our determination, especially since we were playing 8s without subs, whereas they had the benefit of 16 players who could bring fresh legs onto the pitch.
Some key moments from the game include Meg, after being taught how to take a draw in training, deciding to take them for the first time! Alys also set two successful pics on Kat who then went on to score both times.
Our Player of the Match ended up being both Holly and Georgia! Holly for fast ball movement down the pitch with excellent goals as well as being highly motivational to us all and Georgia for regularly being able to dodge past two defenders on a quick break to score goals.
Our Witch on the Pitch was Hannah for missing the roundabout turn off and then losing her car keys whilst being sat in the car. However she did play amazingly in defense and was vocal as ever!

Solid 26-3 win over Leeds today for the first team. Setting out our stall for this season.
